Philips 42PFL5332D/37 Description:

Turn up your viewing experience

With Digital Crystal Clear

With 720p Full HD panel, Blu-ray and HD DVD player support and a digital ATSC tuner, the 42PFL5332D/37 delivers the very best digital HDTV display, HD media connectivity, Dolby Digital sound, SPDIF audio output and doubles as a PC display.

Full HD LCD display, with a 1366 x 768p resolution

The Full HD screen has the widescreen resolution of 1366 x 768p. This is the highest resolution of HD sources for the best possible picture quality. It is fully future proof as it supports 720p signals from all sources, including the most recent like Blu-ray and advanced HD game consoles. The signal processing is extensively upgraded to support this much higher signal quality and resolution. It produces brilliant flicker-free progressive scan pictures with superb brightness and colors.

Integrated HDTV to receive digital HDTV and cable signals

The built-in HDTV tuner that receives and displays terrestrial ATSC and unscrambled cable signals

Digital Crystal Clear provides vivid cinema-like images

Digital Crystal Clear is a package of picture innovations that digitally adjusts and optimizes picture quality to optimal contrast, color and sharpness levels. It's like watching vivid cinema-like images.

Dynamic contrast enhancer delivering rich black details

You want the LCD flat display with the highest contrast and most vibrant images even at wide viewing angle. The Philips dynamic contrast enhancer uses video processing and unique dimming backlight technology. This delivers deep rich black levels with increased detail. The dimming backlight increases the contrast up to 5 times*, and at the same time improves the viewing angle. It gives a bright, lifelike picture with high contrast and vibrant colors, (* factor between 2 and 5, screen type and picture content dependant).

Dolby Digital for movies or concerts in full surround sound

Because Dolby Digital and DTS, the world's leading digital multi-channel audio standards, make use of the way the human ear naturally processes sound, you experience superb quality surround sound audio with realistic spatial cues.

Compact and slim design that fits in every room

This design style emphasizes a slim, compact look that saves space and fits in anywhere.

Auto Picture to personalize your viewing

Auto Picture button on the remote control enables one-touch selection of various preset optimized image settings to suit different TV program.

Auto Sound uses pre-defined sound settings for better sound

Auto Sound provides pre-defined sound settings for ultra bass, bass, treble and balance for the optimum entertainment experience.

2 HDMI inputs for full digital HD connection in one cable

HDMI makes an uncompressed digital RGB connection from the source to the screen. By eliminating conversion to an analog signal, it delivers an unblemished image. The non-degraded signal reduces flicker and leads to a clearer picture. HDMI intelligently communicates the highest output resolution with the source device. The HDMI input is fully backward compatible with DVI sources but includes digital audio. HDMI uses HDCP copy protection. With 2 HDMI inputs you can connect multiple HD sources, for instance an HD settop box, and a Blu-ray player. Your TV is fully prepared for the HD future.

Review

The Philips TV is very fashionable and I love that it has a Blu-ray. Although I hate buying Blu-ray DVD's I do but I don't always. Sometimes I just watch TV which alone is clear as day. The TV is good on picture quality and audio but I don’t think it would be anything without HD programming. I have saved money buying a Philips and having DISH Network service. I have HD Free for Life and I'm thankful I don't have to pay for it like I would if I have DIRECTV's lower packages. These days you have to save every penny you can.
